Coaches Emily, Ansley, Ayla and Ryan

September 18, 2021 - Emily Johnson will be leading our 13-1 team, along with Ansley Berry as Asst Coach.

Coach Emily has been an A5 veteran since 2010, having coached at all Atlanta-area A5 clubs - A5 in Roswell, A5 Gwinnett and now A5 South as our Youth and CVC (Competitive Volleyball Club) Director. As the current Head Coach of KONOS Academy volleyball program, Coach Emily's vast coaching experience at the grassroots, high school and DIII collegiate level brings excitement, energy and depth to our youth program.

Assisting her will be Ansley Berry who has led a few of our 12U teams, as well as our youth clinics and camps the past 2 seasons. As an A5 South Alumna, Coach Ansley graduated from Northgate High School in Newnan and is currently a Junior at the University of West Georgia pursuing her degree in Early Childhood Education and Teaching.


Ayla Smith will head coach our 13-2 team, with Ryan Spicer-Gordon as assistant coach. 

Coach Ayla returns for a fifth season at A5 South. She is currently the JV Head Coach at Landmark Christian School. Coach Ayla played at our sister club A5 Gwinnett during her club years and excelled as a student-athlete and starting Setter at North Carolina Wesleyan College. A graduate of Newnan High School, she has put in countless hours teaching young athletes at our camps and clinics. Coach Ayla earned her Master's in Sports Psychology and hopes to open her own private practice one day. 

Assisting this team will be Ryan Spicer-Gordon. An A5 South Alumna and graduate of East Coweta High School, she is currently a junior Defensive Specialist/Libero at Georgia State University. A consistent Honor Roll recipient, Coach Ryan is pursuing a degree in Sports Psychology. She has coached many of our camps and clinics as well. 

We are so proud of this coaching duo, having grown up in the A5 Family and thriving as coaches! Being well-versed in the A5 system with a passion and genuine love for the game, the future of A5 South will be in good hands.


It's gonna be an awesome season with some of the best Youth Coaches in the state of Georgia leading the future of A5 South!!
